David Wade saw 2018 out in style by completing the East Antrim Marathon Series back-to-back marathons on 30 and 31 December 2018. David was pleased to complete the first day in 5:19:43 and the second day in 5:32:40.
On Saturday the 5 January 2019 it was a chilly but otherwise perfect day for running. Five members travelled to Bryansford to take part in the fifth of the eight races in Born2Run’s winter race series Run Forest Run at Tollymore Forest Park. The 5 and 10k routes took runners on a picturesque route on the forest trail up the Shimna River and back through the forest. Simon Moffett, Debbie Mingout and Violet Davidson took on the 10k. The race was won by Wesley McDowell (Dromore AC) in a time of 35:40; Simon was first home for the Harriers in 49:38. Junior member Kyle Ross continues his good form and finished second in the 5k in a time of 18:09, just behind the winner of the , Ricky McKnight (PACE Running Club), who crossed the line in 18:00. Members Michael and Val Gibson also ran the 5k and completed the course in 31:14 and 32:51.North Down AC’s Festival of Racing cross-country was also on Saturday. Ballydrain’s Denise Logue placed second in the Ladies Masters race in 16:37. The Ladies Masters relay team (Denise Logue, Amanda Perry and Heather Kelly) finished in 3rd place overall (second in the Masters category), with a combined time of 33:53 with hosts North Down AC taking the top two overall positions in 33:20 and 33:32. Ballydrain Ladies Senior relay team (Amanda Jackson, Claire Ingram and Ashley Orr) finished in 5th place overall with a combined time of 35:06 which saw them place 3rd in the Senior category. Well done ladies.
On Sunday 6 January Colin Campbell was chasing the January blues away (and perhaps running off the festive treats) at Run Armagh’s January Blues marathon. Colin completed the course in 4 hours 37 minutes.
